How do I get on the ballot?
  • File as a Democratic or Republican candidate and, if necessary, win the Primary.
  • Be nominated by the Democratic or Republican Party if no one from that party filed for an office.
  • Be nominated by a minor political party that has ballot access.
  • Run as an unaffiliated candidate by complying with Delaware Code, Title 15, ss3002.

How do I become a declared write-in candidate?
  • Submit the required form to the State Election Commissioner for a statewide office no later than 4:30 p.m. on September 30.
  • Submit the required form to your county Department of Elections for a legislative or county office no later than 4:30 p.m. on September 30.

How do I get an absentee ballot?
  • Fill out an Absentee Affidavit.
  • Get it notarized if the reason you are voting absentee is in Section 2.
  • Send the Absentee Affidavit to:

    WILMINGTON DE 19801-3531
  • You can vote at the Department when it is open for Absentee Voting.
