FEDERAL AGENCIES
  • The U. S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) was established by the Help America Vote Act of 2002 (HAVA). The Commission serves as a national clearinghouse and resource for information and review of procedures with respect to the administration of Federal elections.

  • The Federal Election Commission (FEC) administers and enforces the Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA) - the statute that governs the financing of federal elections. The duties of the FEC, which is an independent regulatory agency, are to disclose campaign finance information, to enforce the provisions of the law such as the limits and prohibitions on contributions, and to oversee the public funding of Presidential elections.

  • The Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP) provides military and overseas citizens a broad range of non-partisan information and assistance to facilitate their participation in the democratic process - regardless of where they work or live. FVAP informs and educates U.S. citizens worldwide of their right to vote; fosters voting participation; and protects the integrity of, and simultaneously enhances, the electoral process at the Federal, State and local levels.

  • The U. S. Dept of Justice Voting Section Page provides information about voting rights.

  • The National Institute of Standards and Technology assists the EAC in developing voting system standards.

VOTING AND ELECTION INFORMATION RESOURCES
  • electionline.org provides daily reports on election issues and publishes reports on various election topics.

  • The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization, has fought since 1920 to improve our systems of government and impact public policies through citizen education and advocacy. The League's enduring vitality and resonance comes from its unique decentralized structure. The League is a grassroots organization, working at the national, state and local levels.

  • The League of Women Voters - Delaware is a nonpartisan political organization, encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.

  • The Delaware League of Local Governments provides information about Delaware's municipalities.

VOTING AND ELECTION RESEARCH
  • The Caltech-MIT Voting Technology Project was founded by Caltech President David Baltimore and MIT President Charles Vest, shortly following the 2000 presidential election. The vision of Presidents Baltimore and Vest was that by motivating the joint faculties of both institutions, involving the efforts of computer scientists, engineers, economists, and political scientists, many of the problems seen in the 2000 presidential election could be resolved. With the financial support of the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the Caltech/MIT Voting Technology Project produced a report in July 2001, Voting: What Is, What Could Be, which documented a wide variety of problems with the American voting process and which proposed policy and technological solutions.

  • The International Foundation for Election Systems (IFES) operates in new and developing democracies in over 20 countries with 150 professionals from 25 countries leading technical assistance projects for international and bilateral donor organizations such as USAID, the UN, DFID, the OSCE and others. IFES has worked with election assistance and democratic development in over 100 countries.

  • The National Research Commission on Elections and Voting brings scholarly research, knowledge, and perspective to bear on efforts to improve the integrity of the American electoral process. Organized by the Social Science Research Council, the Commission website serves as a national, nonpartisan clearinghouse of data, independent research, and other resources to support the efforts of scholars and organizations studying voting and election issues. In providing this public service, the SSRC intends to help deepen both public and scholarly awareness of electoral process concerns that must be addressed in order to ensure that our elections and voting system remains legitimate and fair.
