January 12, 2009	Vacancy occured.
January 12, 2009	The Department of Elections for New Castle County begins accepting requests for Absentee Ballots for the Special Election.
January 20, 2009	Writ of Election received by the Department of Elections for New Castle County.
January 20, 2009	The Department of Elections for New Castle County sets the date for the Special Election.
January 21, 2009	The Department of Elections for New Castle County posts the Proclamations.
February 2, 2009 at 4:30 p.m.	Last day that a political party with ballot status may nominate a candidate.
February 3, 2009	The Department of Elections for New Castle County begins mailing Absentee Ballots.
February 4, 2009	The Department of Elections for New Castle County is open from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. on normal business days through February 14, 2009 for absentee voting.
February 7, 2009	Voter registration at the Newark Library from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
February 9, 2009	Last Day a person may register to vote in order to be eligible to vote in the Special Election.
February 11, 2009 at 4:30 p.m.	Last Day that a person may declare themselves a write-in candidate at the Department of Elections for New Castle County.
February 13, 2009 at 4:30 p.m.	Last Day that the Department of Elections for New Castle County is permitted to mail Absentee Ballots to applicants.
February 17, 2009	The Department of Elections for New Castle County is open from 8:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. for absentee voting.
February 18, 2009 at 12 Noon	Last Day that a person may vote in-person by Absentee Ballot at the Department of Elections for New Castle County.
February 19, 2009 at 8 p.m.	Voted Absentee Ballots must be received by the Department of Elections for New Castle County in order to be counted.
February 19, 2009	SPECIAL ELECTION: Polls are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.
February 23, 2009	Canvass of the Special Election by the Board of Canvass beginning at 10 a.m. at the New Castle County Court House.
